Kibo mission`s second spacewalk completed
Washington, June 06: Two astronauts finished the second spacewalk of their mission at the international space station to prepare the installation of a stowage unit on Japan`s new Kibo laboratory, NASA has said. Mission specialists Mike Fossum and Ron Garan ventured out of the station shortly after 2030 (IST) yesterday for an excursion that lasted just longer than seven hours, and almost an hour more than planned. Without running into any hitches, they installed front and rear television cameras outside the science lab, whose name means "hope" in Japanese, removed thermal covers from its robotic system and set the stage for the attachment of Kibo`s stowage unit. The two cameras are to aid in the operation of Kibo`s robotic arm.
